I really love this look, and I am always into designs that improves my existing furniture, since I decided to make “do it yourself home making” my hobby, this has been one of my favorite techniques. I use Mod Podge to add the fabric to the table and then I pour resin on top. After completing the process all that is required is allowing it to dry overnight and I have an old table with a great new look.
If there is one thing I could say about this design it would be that “it is easier than it looks,” everyone can get fabric mod podge for as little as $10 retail, and everyone knows Mod Podge is a designers dream, as an adhesive it is very strong and it generally dries clear, unlike other adhesives that may leave a mess.
I know the question that may come to your mind is, why use resin , when it is toxic and potentially harmful? My answer to that would be, once you are using any chemical you must first be aware of the dangers and use with extreme care, that would mean taking the necessary precautionary measures such as using a ventilated work area, gloves and aprons.
A general misconception is that it is difficult to work with but it is not, the primary advantage of resin is that it can easily be harden, and molded into any shape. It is also difficult to deny that resin can produce quite an exquisite finish as seen in the picture above. It is also great for furniture and many other surfaces because once it dries it makes the surface water proof.
